Whitchurch Golf Club is a popular inner city parkland course situated in an affluent area of Cardiff, South Wales. The club, which is draped in rich history, offers a challenging tree-lined golf course which has been proven throughout time since its establishment in 1914 as seen across its span of holding local and national golf tournaments.
Whitchurch Golf Club measures 6,278 yards from the Championship tees with a course par of 71. Whitchurch’s layout sees tight fairways protected by tall trees, perfectly located fairway bunkers and hazards with vast undulations around the greens causing severe apron run offs like those that can be found on holes 11 and 12. When matched with their spectacular green surfaces provide an extra element of protection and picturesque viewing for the entire round.

Noticeably the course sees several tight and strategic holes, which subtly dog leg. Such as: 3, 5, 11, 12 & 16. These make for memorable holes and whilst making way for good match play stage. The front nine is more strategic and the back nine feels like it lengthens with examples including the longer Par 3,15th which plays 198 from the back tees.
One standout hole at Whitchurch Golf Club is the 10th which overlooks the CBD (Central Business District) of Cardiff City Centre. This 488-yard Par 5 hole from a raised tee, which has eight bunkers to navigate past, all whilst avoiding the out of bounds left. A true risk and reward. The green is also surrounded by Out of bounds as the hole backs onto spectacular real estate. In all a special looking and rewarding hole.
The 18th at Whitchurch Golf Club is where you will find the hole that leaves you with the biggest impression. This 421-yard hole protected with Out of Bounds left and a water hazard right will most definitely have you gripping the club tighter on the tee, yet feeling accomplished stood on the last green having played a Welsh Gem with a tough finish.
In addition to the course, the club also features a grass warm-up area and nets, a large putting green and a undulating chipping area with bunkers that readies you for the round ahead. The staff within the clubhouse are happy to help. During the winter of 2022 Whitchurch appointed a New Head Professional, Will Urwin who has a wide wealth of Knowledge. Will is currently specialising as a putting coach is sure to help your game if you pop in for a lesson.
Whitchurch Golf Club is a with a rich history, who’s members also try their best to continue tradition whilst remaining friendly and approachable. One member who has repeatedly shown this is Ben Williams. Ben has helped to Run the Ben Williams Trophy which is a junior open that is highly regarded in Wales as a top Junior Open event. This enables Whitchurch Golf club to continue to help grow the game at a grass roots level ensuring sustainability and development of players within the club and Cardiff continues.
